Text First screens your incoming calls on your phone. Your contacts, your call list and your Allow and Block lists never leave the device. There is no account and we run no server for the app. The only data that leaves the app is what Google AdMob uses to show the banner ad.
Text First holds Android's call-screening role. When a call comes in, Android gives the app the caller's phone number, and the app decides on the phone whether to let it ring, silence it, or reject it. It never answers, records or listens to a call, and it does not see calls you make.
The app keeps on your device: the numbers you add to Always ring or Blocked, a list of the last 100 screened calls (number, time, and what happened), and your settings.
If you allow contacts access, Text First looks up an incoming caller's number in your contacts on the phone, only to decide whether to let it ring. It does not copy, store or upload your contacts.
When a stranger is screened, the app shows a notification with the number and Allow and Block buttons. It is generated on the phone.
The app shows a banner ad through Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers, including the advertising ID, along with IP address and ad interaction data, to serve and measure ads. AdMob never receives your contacts, your call list or the numbers that call you. See how Google uses data from partner apps. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's settings.
Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before any ad loads. You can change your answer at any time with Ad privacy choices in the app menu.
The menu has a Tester code entry used only by the developer to switch their own phone to Google's test ads. The code is checked on the phone; only an on/off setting is kept.
If Android backup is on for your device, your settings, lists and screened-call list may be included in your own Google backup, which you control from your Google account. We can't see it.
Use Clear list in the app to erase the screened-call list, remove numbers from your lists, or uninstall the app or clear its storage in Android settings and everything is gone from the device.
Text First is not directed at children under 13.
Text First is made by ZIEHRO, an independent developer in Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, who is responsible for your data (the "controller" under EU and UK law).
Your contacts and call information never leave your phone, so we hold nothing about you. Ads come from Google, which may process ad data in the United States or other countries under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Wherever you live, you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask for it in a portable form, and object to how we use it. In the EU, EEA and UK the GDPR gives you these rights, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority. Email ziehro@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days.
