Anchor — Privacy Policy

Published by ZIEHRO (DriftWest). Last updated: 8 November 2026.

The short version

Anchor keeps everything you do in it on your phone: your journal, your before-and-after mood check-ins, your streak and your settings. There is no account and we run no server for the app. The only data that leaves the app is what Google AdMob uses to show the banner ad on the home screen.

What the app stores, on your phone only

None of this is sent to us, to Google or to anyone else. We can't see it.

Narration and sound

The guided sessions play voice recordings built into the app. If a recording is missing, Anchor falls back to your phone's own text-to-speech engine, which runs on the device. The soft background noise is generated on the phone. The app never uses the microphone.

Reminders and notifications

If you turn on the daily reminder, Anchor asks for permission to show notifications and schedules one alarm a day on your phone. Nothing is sent from a server.

Help now

The Help now screen opens your phone's dialer, messaging app or browser with a crisis line's number or website. Anchor doesn't place the call, see the conversation, or record that you opened it.

Advertising

The home screen shows a banner ad through Google AdMob. Ads never show during a session or a breathing round. Google may collect device identifiers, including the advertising ID, along with IP address and ad interaction data, to serve and measure ads. AdMob never receives your journal, your mood check-ins or which sessions you use. See how Google uses data from partner apps. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's settings.

Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before any ad loads. You can change your answer at any time with Ad privacy choices in the app menu.

Tester code

The menu has a Tester code entry used only by the developer to switch their own phone to Google's test ads. The code is checked on the phone; only an on/off setting is kept.

Backup

If Android backup is on for your device, your journal, progress and settings may be included in your own Google backup, which you control from your Google account. We can't see it.

Deleting your data

Long-press any journal entry to delete it. To erase everything, clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app.

Health information

Your mood ratings and journal are personal, and that's why they stay on your phone. Anchor does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, and it doesn't share anything with health providers or anyone else.

Children's privacy

Anchor is not directed at children under 13.

Your rights (EU, UK and elsewhere)

Anchor is made by ZIEHRO, an independent developer in Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, who is responsible for your data (the "controller" under EU and UK law).

Everything you put in the app stays on your phone, so we hold nothing about you. Ads come from Google, which may process ad data in the United States or other countries under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Wherever you live, you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, ask for it in a portable form, and object to how we use it. In the EU, EEA and UK the GDPR gives you these rights, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority. Email ziehro@gmail.com and we'll reply within 30 days.
