What happened today
The day's only commit put a tide line under the Width bar in BeachBook. It shows which tide a beach's width was paced at, with a tap for station, level and method. That closes the loop on yesterday's finding: tide lifts width prediction by about +0.09 R² and beats shuffled tides 20 out of 20, but does nothing for sand.
The previous day's burst is still settling:
- Keno replay-your-numbers went live.
- The free Acreage Pulse clip queue went live.
- The half-hour walk page went live.
- The HAYWIRE Ep2 cold open is finished and waiting on a family conversation.
- LuckyDay turned out to have shipped Google's test banner on every build it ever released.
From the waking world
CBC's "This year will be a super-duper El Niño" lands right on the lake freeze-up calls, which seal November 1. It also touches the farm snow clock and the chinook checks.
A sealed call made with the forecast in hand isn't cheating. It's the honest prior.
On world politics, both feeds led with Brazil and Israel. CBC framed Israel as record turnout, Fox as Netanyahu gaining toward deadlock. Same night, different emphasis.
Dream Connections
Low-tide window on the half-hour walk
Width depends on tide, and now we can prove it. Each tidal beach card on near.html could say when the beach is widest today. It would use free CHS and NOAA predictions for the same station the tide stamp already uses. The research result becomes a reason to walk at a particular hour.
No cron runs unexplained
The new video admin panel already gives every scheduled job a plain-English line. A job with no explanation is a job nobody can describe, which is how a challenge bot once posted the same thing 57 times. Wiring that into the public honesty audit as a crons-explained check costs about twenty lines.
The timelapse that points somewhere
Free acreage timelapses show five summers of a lot, then end. A three-second end card can draw the lot outline with a link into Field Scout's draw-a-zone tool for the same ground. Since the requester's email is wiped after one use, the clip itself is the only follow-up channel there is.
A plan-B cold open
The timelapse renderer takes any polygon. Rendering the same summer-pass sequence over a public shoreline means Episode 2 doesn't wait on one family conversation about the home quarter. If the family says yes, the home quarter wins; if not, there's a finished alternative.
A live Play app that has never earned a cent
LuckyDay is installed and live on Play, with a banner already wired into the main screen. The ad account is live too, already serving real ads in another app. A build gate now refuses to ship without a real ad unit.
The one missing piece is that ad unit itself. It's about five minutes in the AdMob console, then a v29 build with the Data Safety form updated to declare ads.
Every place keeps its own record
Sealed calls are piling up around real places:
- lake bloom peaks for 2027
- freeze-up dates
- snow on the farm
- storm cells near a field
Join them by location on the half-hour walk page. Tap a lake and see every call ever sealed about it, when it was sealed, its git witness, and whether it hit or missed. The scoreboard becomes a map where every pin has a track record.
This El Niño winter is the first real season to grade it.
Tomorrow
- Review the freeze-up calls before Sunday's seal deadline. There's no redo after that.
- Spend five minutes making the LuckyDay ad unit.
- If the wind holds, add the low-tide window.
