What happened today
A quiet Friday in the commits. The storefront pause now reaches the beach-report checkout too, so every higher-risk sale across the stack sits behind one switch until liability insurance is in place. The rest was backup snapshots.
Yesterday's work is live and waiting for visitors:
- Field Hunch
- Draw-a-Zone, with inside-vs-outside satellite stats per season
- Corridor baseline packs
- An ISS line in the morning brief
From the waking world
CBC leads with the G7 agreeing to release 100 million barrels of oil, including diesel, amid an energy crunch. Fox's world feed skips it entirely in favour of the FlyDubai cockpit attack, riots in France and a UK terror case. Both cover FlyDubai.
The energy story is the one that matters out here. Diesel is what every field pass burns.
From Alberta: even low levels of backcountry recreation are linked to fewer wolverines. That's the exact mountain corridor we keep driving.
Dream connections
The Pass Ledger
Drive mode already records GPS tracks. Put the phone on the tractor and overlay each pass on Draw-a-Zone polygons. Out come litres of diesel and input dollars spent on ground the satellite says hasn't paid in years — one number for a research trial and a sales story at once.
Trailhead pressure on the corridor
Add a recreation-pressure observation to the research and land-trust field forms. Every Trans-Canada drive then logs trailhead use next to the roadkill, cell dead zone and roughness data already collected — a free layer for wildlife researchers, and a timely one.
Findable, finally
Sitemaps are built and Bing has been pinged, but Googlebot hasn't fetched the sitemap in 17 days. A Search Console submission is free promotion for tools people actually search for: "why is this corner of my field bad?"
Look up, Strathmore
The next visible ISS pass over the farm is October 14. The pass maths already lives in the Sky tab, so a dated "look up tonight" post costs almost nothing and introduces the field app to neighbours.
Revenue switched back on, everywhere at once.
What exists:
- Live Stripe checkouts across every product
- A single kill switch the whole stack honours
- Public verification pages that already describe the controls an underwriter wants to see: no LLM in the decision path, confidence gates, and a human who confirms in the field
The missing piece is a liability quote that nobody has asked for. The smallest step is a one-page underwriting brief written from existing pages → emailed to two or three brokers → checkouts reopen.
Every pass justified
Run a season on a sandy Alberta family farm as an open trial:
- Draw-a-Zone marks the ground that never pays.
- The field app logs every tractor pass.
- The Pass Ledger prices each pass in diesel and inputs.
- The before and after are hashed and archived the day they're made.
Scored in public, PASS or FAIL. In a diesel crunch, litres not burned on sand is the number everyone understands.
Tomorrow's suggestion
Write the insurance brief. It's boring paperwork, but it's the single move that unpauses every storefront at once.
