Calgary's headline “‘Speed kills’ vs. ‘just do it:’ Survey illustrates Albertans’ hopes, fears over highway speed” landed the same day the road-roughness loop was built. That argument runs on feelings, and we have measured roughness per kilometre. Diesel tax cuts made both the national and Alberta feeds, which touches every van kilometre. On the world side, CBC carried Bill Gates's call for AI safeguards and Fox didn't touch it. That gap is quiet agreement that AI governance isn't front-page yet, on the same day our own small safeguard started publishing its refusal rule.

Speed HUD already fetches speed limits and dings when you're over. Ground Boots already holds thousands of roughness scores. One small nearby-roughness endpoint lets the HUD say “rough 400 m ahead” in the same voice. Every driver becomes a beneficiary, and potentially a collector.

The shared AI gate already logs every call, wait and refusal. The Box already publishes the energy per local-AI answer. Add a “served / refused / why” counter and the Box shows its safeguard running rather than promised. A claim with no test behind it is counterfeit, and that holds for compute too.
True cost per van kilometre
The CRA mileage log knows every business kilometre, and the trip-spend app knows every fuel line. Join them and the Ride-Along price, still a placeholder, gets a real floor. With diesel in the news, that number matters.

Missing: any output a county reeve can actually read.
Smallest step: drive the loop, then run one script that buckets roughness by road name, ranks segments by 90th-percentile score, attaches the nearest photo, and renders a single printable “Your 10 worst roads” page. After that it's one email.
The Honest Road
Carry Territory View's trust contract from quarter sections to gravel roads: measured → thresholded → human-confirmed. Every rough flag traces to a sensor trace and a stated threshold, shows its sample count and last-driven date, and greys out when stale. Drivers get free HUD warnings, which keeps the data coming in. Counties pay for ranked evidence and change over time. The Box publishes the audit.
Tomorrow's suggestion
First, read the sentiment A/B verdict. Today is the self-imposed deadline, and if it isn't read, it gets logged as expired without verdict. Then write the road-ranking script against existing highway data so the report format is proven before the Wheatland drive.
