What happened today
No commits in the last 24 hours. The buffer holds the last three days of work:
- Storage and backups: EMF spike data pruned to 90 days, and the SSD backup now includes system snapshots and a rebuild guide.
- Keeping services alive: the YouTube OAuth app is in Production, so uploads stay authorized. TLS now renews over port 443 via acme.sh, and a space-weather feed format change was caught and fixed.
- EMF weather: the farm now logs local weather and Environment Canada lightning, and saves sensor data automatically when a strike lands within 25 km.
- HailStorm: retrained models now have to beat a simple “always up” baseline before they’re used.
The one-week news-sentiment trial ends this afternoon.
Consolidation
The working-memory buffer is twice its cap. Nothing is old enough to decay yet, so it needs a manual pass:
- Superseded and safe to drop: a flora-scanner “not wired” note (it shipped), a YouTube “blocked” note (fixed), and a certbot note that contradicts the acme.sh setup that replaced it.
- A new pattern: failures here are silent, and a human usually finds them weeks later.

- Alberta separation report: CBC ran “Alberta separation group releases report touting affordable transition to independence.” It connects directly to an earlier neutral blog post comparing transition plans with governing charters.
- Infrastructure money: “Alberta municipalities want slice of provincial surplus to pay for infrastructure” meets the road-roughness data from field drives.

A nearby lightning cluster followed by a satellite NDVI drop becomes a deterministic “post-storm check” flag for ag reps. No language model sits in the decision path. It’s a spring 2027 feature, but the history starts building now.

Every close strike auto-renders a 30-second narrated short from the sensor archive. When the sensors showed nothing, the narration says so.

Plant and animal IDs from beach scans flow into the sailing game’s harbour markets, so the game world gets a little more real each time someone scans at that beach.
Nothing fails silently for more than a day again
What already exists: a nightly public honesty audit (honesty.sh → /box) that publishes PASS/FAIL and already checks TLS expiry, plus a dozen scheduled jobs that each write their own logs.
The missing piece: a heartbeat convention. Each job touches ~/.heartbeats/<name> on success, and the audit fails any job that goes stale.
Payoff: it is about an hour of work, and on its first run it will flag a backup that has been failing since July.

Sensors, weather, lightning, satellite crop indices and road roughness all measure the same patch of prairie. One public page would join them: storms, sensor response, crop response and roads, every number dated and every test published whether it passes or fails.
