New games for an old console, written by people who chose to give them away under free-software licences. Play here with a keyboard or gamepad, or open the DriftWest Console on a TV and use your phone as the controller.

Keys

Arrows = D-pad · X = A · Z = B · Enter = Start · Right Shift = Select. A USB/Bluetooth gamepad works too. In the Console, a phone pad sends every button to the game; press Select + Start together to go back to the menu.

Why only these games

Free to download isn't the same as free to pass on. Every game on this shelf is published under a licence that allows redistribution, and its source code is hosted right here next to it. Games with unclear or "personal use only" terms don't go on the shelf, however good they are.

What's running

• FCEUmm NES core inside RetroArch, compiled to WebAssembly by retroarch-emscripten-build v1.22.2 (GPL-2.0 / GPL-3.0; source at those links, build files served unchanged from core/).
• Nostalgist.js 0.23.0 (MIT).
• Nothing is loaded from other sites while you play.
